This is based off a character I created for a book a while back, a marionette dancer. I like the character, so I decided to reinvent her for today’s IF. Watercolor pencil, no digital this time. I love the sad feeling she invokes.

Oo.. poor girl..
Nice illo!
Poor baby, she looks like the strings have been cut or something. Wonderful illustration and play on the word Strings. I love Marionettes. This one is simply adorable. Great work Dot!!
She does look sad. Having someone control everything you do is a pretty good reason!
Very nice illo!
cool
nice character and shading
Great little drawing! She is in a sad state though. Maybe now that her strings are free she’ll get some traction in her life ;)
So nice. love the shading! :)
Oh, she is sad but so very elegant at the same time. I love this.
Poor little girl … Nice image!
this is really beautiful and very expressive image! you’re so clever in pencilwork as well!
Looks like she is dragged out of the bed in the morning or else she will be late to the school..:)
She looks so sad compared to your usual work. The art seems a little moody which is good. Nice take on “strings.”
oh, she does look very lonely. What’s going on with her? She seems tired to me, and a bit dejected…or is it just iron poor blood?
such emotion… what a sad little one… you should “happy” her up a bit… too much sa goin around these days…
Yeah, this was a sad one, the moody feel was so well captured.
such a sad and delicate-looking girl. beautiful illustration!
thanks!
And yes, Michael, maybe I’ll do a happier version of her next week :)
Very nice. She has a wonderful expression.
This is so beautiful Dot! I loved catching up on all your posts especially the camping and the little white house :)
Nice expression and mood created by the pose…
Just lovely, you’ve really evoked a mood with this piece.
