The food color I had (a candy color by Wilton, if i recall correctly) was already a “cool” dark green color. If need be, you can add a little blue to tone down a too yellow green.

I didn’t actually make these-the twinkies version-, but when I made my version (linked in the article above) yes, that’s what I did.
