I've posted a great deal of art on Dabbled--watercolors, cartoons, and of course, lots of robots! You can always pop over to my art portfolio (nancydorsner.com) site to see it, but here's where it's been blogged.

Photoshop Class: Scanned line drawing to finished colored illustration

I bet you guys thought I’d forgotten how to draw, huh? I must admit, art has been on the back burner these days… but I volunteered to do a little illustration for a neighbor’s baby shower. And, since you like our last ‘Photoshop Class’, I thought you guys might like a little peek into how I colored it. This is a quick method I use for coloring more ‘cartoonish’ drawings… I sketched the drawing in pencil, then went over the line work in ink.  However if you draw your pencil lines dark enough, this method will also let… Read on...

Dragon*con Artist Report

One reason I love to go to Dragon*con is all the awesome artwork, particularly in the comic artists area! And I got to see some really fun artists, which I’ll now randomly share with you, because they are cool.
Brian Despain I love Brian’s work… the subject matter is right up my alley–robots and all manner of coolness– , and it’s just plain gorgeous.  I could just stare at the robot worlds he creates all day long–Inspiring! Love these robots.. The Escape The Haunting Web: Despainart.com

Illustration Friday – Paisley Meets Slither

Why of course I didn’t take the sketch I never finished for the “Slither” theme, add some quick paisleys to the background, and try to pass it off as the Paisley theme this week! How could you even think such a thing!? Original sketch: http://dabbled.org/2010/06/sketchbook-tuesday.html

Sketchbook Tuesday

I did this little sketch the other evening while The Boy was in Kung Fu class.  I liked it, so I inked it up last night.  Kinda cute, huh?  Somewhat inspired by The Far Side, and somewhat by the accidental results of my brother’s mouse-based science fair project, back in the day….

Love this idea! Draw on Marshmallows…

Over at The Decorated Cookie, there’s a great tutorial for decorating your marshmallows for your summer picnics.  What a fun idea!  She even goes step by step on how to do the featured drawings!
It’s been a while since I added to my how to draw on food series. And to my marshmallow collection. So here is something to cover both: marshmallows for your summer barbecue. These are incredibly easy to make and take mere minutes. You can put them on lollipop sticks and display them in a glass jar on your picnic table for a treat (assuming

New Art! Ballooning Bot

So, I tried to shoehorn in my drawing of Phineas and Ferb meet The Clone Wars for the Early theme on IF last week, but (although the piece came out AWESOME–the Boy loves it!) it was kinda a cheat. So here’s another take. Oh! Foodwhirl giveaway ends today! Go enter quick!
Here is the ballooning robot in the early morning light.  I imagine he got up early, and just headed out on an adventure.  Not quite sure where the winds will take him, as his craft has very little ability to steer. (Maybe he’ll… Read on...

Phineas & Ferb meet the Clone Wars

(Edit: The Party has come and gone… see the Perry Cake, the Clone Wars Cupcakes, and everything else: Phineas & Ferb Meet the Clone Wars Party!) The Boy has a birthday coming up, and I figured I’d better be early (ok, I’m reaching for an IF theme! edit: Another IF for Early is HERE!) drawing an illustration for his birthday party invite. (Previous year’s party invitations: Dragon and Robots.) His pick for a party theme this year? Phineas & Ferb AND Star Wars – The Clone Wars. So what was I to… Read on...

Sketchbook – Non Standard Equipment

This is some pretty non-standard equipment for ballooning! I have been so slack at drawing lately, even sketching—and I haven’t done an illustration friday in weeks! So, here’s a quick pencil drawing I did at The Boy’s Kung Fu class Tuesday night. I MIGHT get around to a colored version eventually….
