New Art! Ballooning Bot

So, I tried to shoehorn in my drawing of Phineas and Ferb meet The Clone Wars for the Early theme on IF last week, but (although the piece came out AWESOME–the Boy loves it!) it was kinda a cheat. So here’s another take. Oh! Foodwhirl giveaway ends today! Go enter quick!
Here is the ballooning robot in the early morning light.  I imagine he got up early, and just headed out on an adventure.  Not quite sure where the winds will take him, as his craft has very little ability to steer. (Maybe he’ll… Read on...

Phineas & Ferb meet the Clone Wars

(Edit: The Party has come and gone… see the Perry Cake, the Clone Wars Cupcakes, and everything else: Phineas & Ferb Meet the Clone Wars Party!) The Boy has a birthday coming up, and I figured I’d better be early (ok, I’m reaching for an IF theme! edit: Another IF for Early is HERE!) drawing an illustration for his birthday party invite. (Previous year’s party invitations: Dragon and Robots.) His pick for a party theme this year? Phineas & Ferb AND Star Wars – The Clone Wars. So what was I to… Read on...

Sketchbook – Non Standard Equipment

This is some pretty non-standard equipment for ballooning! I have been so slack at drawing lately, even sketching—and I haven’t done an illustration friday in weeks! So, here’s a quick pencil drawing I did at The Boy’s Kung Fu class Tuesday night. I MIGHT get around to a colored version eventually….

New necklaces (with Dot’s art!)

I’ve been working on a way to sell some of my artwork, in a way that is both affordable, and more ‘useful’ than just a picture you hang on your wall. So this is a couple of prototypes of my latest idea! (Excuse the pics, these aren’t the highest quality!) I’ve been playing around with glass tile necklaces, with either prints from my artwork, or original drawings, as fun and wearable art.
Here are the 2 prototypes–based on the watercolor series (“Robot World“) which is currently in the Museum of Science in Boston. One is… Read on...

Logo Design

Here’s a new logo design I am working on… It’s for a wellness company (yoga, acupuncture, nutrition, etc) and based on a symbol for abundance that the client liked – It’s meant to evoke a sunrise. (I’m still tweaking the design a bit, too–a few things that I’m not happy with yet!) Which do you like best?

This Robot has Expired.

Happy Illustration (not exactly) Friday! (I should color last week‘s like this, when I have a chance) DabbledPromote Your Page Too

A couple of robot sketches for Subterranean

The prompt on Illustration Friday this week is Subterranean…I’ll probably do another pic for IF this week, but I thought this was cool.. Which do you like better? I was playing around with a fun little online drawing tool called Harmony that I found via Drawn.ca. So I sketched part of the idea I had for illustration friday this week!  I really like the sparse feel to this… and it was fun :)  I’ll probably do another IF for Subterranean, but if not, here are these two! Speaking… Read on...

My Tarot Card for the Super Punch 3 year Anniversary

And it’s perfect for today’s Illustration Friday: Brave.  Doesn’t this king look Brave and True?  You know he had to be a robot. About the project at Super Punch:
So, about this project. I wanted to do something special for the third anniversary of Super Punch, and three weeks or so ago, the idea popped into my head of inviting my favorite artists to create tarot cards.
See all the fabulous cards thus far at Super Punch.  There are some incredibly cool ones, from some very cool artists, and I’m honored to be part… Read on...

IF: Propagate – Robot Matryoshka Dolls

Illustration Friday prompt this week was Propagate… I’m not really sure HOW these dolls propagate, but I’m sure it’s interesting :) This seemed to be begging for a caption, this was the one I came up with… any better ideas? If you missed it..Earlier today: Clothes Tutorials – recycle your wardrobe! And the latest from Foodwhirl.com!

I’ll Sail this Ship of Gnomes.

For my Illustration (not quite) Friday, this is my take on ‘adrift’.. I’ve always loved The Beautiful South (and the Housemartins before), but when we hear I’ll Sail this Ship Alone, my sweetie and I like to say “Sail this Ship of Gnomes”.. not quite sure how it started, but that’s why we have a lovely little sketch of a ship of gnomes for your perusal today. I’ll Sail This Ship Alone (BBC Session – Mark Goodier 10/6/89) by The Beautiful South
