Illustration Friday – Talisman

Good morning! For Illustration Friday (yeah, I know it’s Tuesday, I’m late) (and yesterday’s MSCEApril) I’m presenting this lovely little robot, with his flower talisman. To a robot, a flower which grows from the earth must have magical properties!

Digital- commissioned tattoo design.
(Note, please don’t steal – if you’re interested in using this for your own tattoo, please email me and we can work something similar out.)

Oh yeah, and I’m excited about this! We had a really fun trip to trip to Boston this weekend and saw the space where the Robot World watercolors are going to live for a bit. I’ll post more details soon!

It’s really interesting connection between robot and flower. Great illo!

  • josh pincus is crying [] :

your robots are always so cool!

  • Roberta [] :

He looks very pleased with his flower!

  • Carol Browne [] :

I am always a fan of your robots. They look so friendly.

About the Easter eggs, you asked about, here are my links:

http://carolbrowne.com/index.php?itemid=2504 – 2 washi eggs and a gold glittery egg. The Washi eggs are wooden eggs covered in paper. I blogged about that here – http://carolbrowne.com/index.php?itemid=2480

They are quick to make – and really easy. And they end up looking very nice.

  • Amy C [] :

I always like how you manage to make your robots so full of personality.
    This is a lovely image.
I watched Wall-e the other night – its a fab movie have you seen it?

  • David Opie [] :

I love the sentimental robot! By the way, hot press has a smooth surface, cold press has a textured surface. The smooth surface generally allows for more detail and is easier to draw on.

  • Brine Blank [] :

Great robot…did you to this with it already known this was for a tattoo or did you do it…

  • erin [] :

so sweet, but how does he smell? (isn’t that a fifth grade joke)

  • Dot [] :

    thanks, guys!

    Brian,
I’m not sure you actually typed that question correctly, but if you’re asking if i designed it as a tattoo or if it was for something else… I did design it for this specific purpose.

You are always up to wonderful things, Nancy! I love your IF piece and your boy is so darn cute!!! Good things :)

  • Bella Sinclair [] :

Very cool robot, Dot! He’s so smooth, and almost childlike. I love his flower. Seeing a robot that loves and nurtures flowers reminds me of Miyazaki’s Castle in the Sky (Laputa).

  • 3rdEyeMuse [] :

Awesome design – love the pretty little flower he’s (???) dreamily staring at.

  • Eric Barclay [] :

    This is really cool!
