The Boy is going as Mr. Freeze for halloween this year, but he’s wearing last year’s Perry the Platypus (Agent P!) costume to school on Friday. I started thinking about it, and decided it needed a bit of an update, so here is Perry, V 2.0! I decided it needed big Perry eyes, so I added 2 ping pong balls, colored with Sharpie marker. Ready to make your Perry Cake? Really, you CAN do this!
Yesterday we covered all The Prep Work required to make your platypus cake. Now it’s a day or so before you need the cake, and we’re going to put it all together.
You should have:
- 1 frosted flat cake.
- 1 unfrosted loaf cake
- extra cake (cupcakes)
- 1 batch marshmallow fondant
- the rest of your cream cheese icing
- The Supplies from yesterday’s list.
Here are some basic instructions, pictures follow.
At it’s simplest, you can do this with a green hoodie and sweatpants. Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t find a green hoodie, so I made a simple one out of fleece, by tracing around a current sweatshirt. (see pics below) I added a few pieces of ‘hair’ with black embroidery floss.… [ KEEP READING ]
I spent several hours yesterday making The Boy’s Perry the Platypus costume. My twitter friends will recall my desperate search for a green hoodie sweatshirt, which I never did find, so I made one out of fleece. The platypus tail (made of fleece, and quilted!) is the crowning touch, I think.
