Re-design update: a new 404 page
As part of the changes I’m working on to dabbled.org, I decided to create a fun 404 page (you know, the Page Not Found thing you get with a bad link). The new background is watercolor paper, so I created an effect of the paper being torn to see what was underneath–and of course some cute robots peeking through. And the effect even covers part of the header. I thought it was a pretty cute trick. You can see it by going to any link on the site that doesn’t exist, like http://dabbled.org/slkdfjs.
I’ve seen several cute 404… Read on…
Dragon*con Artist Report
One reason I love to go to Dragon*con is all the awesome artwork, particularly in the comic artists area! And I got to see some really fun artists, which I’ll now randomly share with you, because they are cool.
Brian Despain
I love Brian’s work… the subject matter is right up my alley–robots and all manner of coolness– , and it’s just plain gorgeous. I could just stare at the robot worlds he creates all day long–Inspiring!
Love these robots..

New Art! Ballooning Bot
So, I tried to shoehorn in my drawing of Phineas and Ferb meet The Clone Wars for the Early theme on IF last week, but (although the piece came out AWESOME–the Boy loves it!) it was kinda a cheat. So here’s another take.
Oh! Foodwhirl giveaway ends today! Go enter quick!
Here is the ballooning robot in the early morning light. I imagine he got up early, and just headed out on an adventure. Not quite sure where the winds will take him, as his craft has very little ability… Read on…
New necklaces (with Dot’s art!)
I’ve been working on a way to sell some of my artwork, in a way that is both affordable, and more ‘useful’ than just a picture you hang on your wall. So this is a couple of prototypes of my latest idea! (Excuse the pics, these aren’t the highest quality!)
I’ve been playing around with glass tile necklaces, with either prints from my artwork, or original drawings, as fun and wearable art.
Here are the 2 prototypes–based on the watercolor series (“Robot World“) which is currently in the Museum of Science in Boston. One is the… Read on…
Illustration Friday Reloaded!
I did get around to coloring at least part of my Sketchbook drawings for illustration friday this week. Sorry, haven’t done the patterned pants yet! Oddly enough, I drew these two robots as two separate sketches, two different takes on the pattern theme. But they looked so cute together in my sketchbook, i figured they belonged together in one illo. (See the Sketches)
Sketchbook – (IF Pattern)
In the true spirit of Illustration Friday (yeah, I know it’s Monday) I just started sketching what came into my head for the prompt of “Pattern”. So a Frankenrobot with patterned pants… A robot holding a pattern… A robot thinking a pattern of 1′s and 0′s… Hopefully I’ll get around to coloring these soon! (If so, I’ll post an IF update!) … oh and in case you missed it, here’s the info about my watercolors in the MoS in Boston.
Illustration Friday: they threw caution to the wind…
… and just went romping through the tulips!
Someone asked for this a long time ago (back when I posted the Alice in the Rose Garden & Wizard of Oz Poppies pics)… and I finally got around to doing it.
And no, I haven’t finished the robot sketch from last week…. Will post when I do!
How to Throw a Robot Spaceman Party!
I’m working on this year’s party for The Boy’s #4 Birthday right now (DRAGONS! Coming Soon!), which got me thinking about last year’s party. For the #3 party, we did a Robot Spaceman theme, and everyone loved it, so I figured some of you might be interested in what we did….
This is a cute party idea, that kids like, and is fun to do. You can seriously go retro with this, and decorate with Tin Robot toys. Or play up the spaceman side of it with stars and outer space decor. Think space, rockets, robots, stars… there are tons… Read on…
Illustration Friday
In the hierarchy of T-shirt bots, the Mom-Bot reigns supreme! I had been meaning to do more of these, but several people who took the survey said they’d like to see more of them, maybe on t-shirts, so I figured I’ll do a few more…

Forgot to add my links to other cool IF’s this week! So here they are:

Last week's Illustration Friday – Impossibility (+ bonus Robot!)
So I forced myself to get out the watercolors today… I missed IF last week, and so you get *TWO*! pictures for today. This first one is what popped into my head based on this week’s theme of “Impossibility”. Well, not much of a stretch, as much of my odd world fits in that category.

I sketched this next on, after doing the original sketch for the Improbability above, and then did a very quick watercolor job on it. I like the looseness… it’s a good… Read on…
