Phineas & Ferb / Star Wars the Clone Wars Party Food!

Phineas & Ferb / Star Wars the Clone Wars Party Food!

I promised more on the food for the party – we did it as a brunch to try to beat the heat a little bit.  Since it’s food related, I’ve actually posted the writeup over at Foodwhirl: Menu for the birthday party brunch food.  So go check it out!

The menu included Deathstar Cantaloupe, Mr Slushie Dogs, Roast Bantha, and even Platypus Eggs!

(Thanks to the Evil Mad Scientists for the Deathstar Cantaloupe idea!)

Ready to make your Perry Cake?  Really, you CAN do this!

Yesterday we covered all The Prep Work required to make your platypus cake. Now it’s a day or so before you need the cake, and we’re going to put it all together.

You should have:

Perry the Platypus Cake Tutorial: The Prep Work

Perry the Platypus Cake Tutorial: The Prep Work

[Part 2 is here]

I have a request for the tutorial to make the Perry the Platypus Cake, and since it’s needed in a hurry, I’m doing this tutorial in two parts.  By the way, I did a really detailed tutorial on last year’s dragon cake, and this year’s cake is actually similar, if a little simpler. So it wouldn’t be a bad idea to read through that tutorial in case I miss anything I covered there, as far as techniques.

More pics of the cake and the party here!

We’ll start with the prep work:… Read on…

How to Make Clone Trooper Cupcakes

How to Make Clone Trooper Cupcakes

For the Clone Wars section of the birthday party, (for the Phineas and Ferb themed cake, go here!) the hubby and I came up with the idea for upside down clone trooper helmet cupcakes.  These cupcakes were the hit of the party with the five-year-old boy set, though I will warn you, they are a bit time consuming to assemble. But well worth it! So here’s how to do them.

Cupcakes: You’ll need good firm cake, similar to pound cake. Here’s the recipe I used. I don’t know if it was luck, or overfilling the… Read on…

I’ll have more later, including a how-to on the Perry the Platypus Cake, and the Clone Trooper Cupcakes, but here’s some pic’s from the Phineas & Ferb meet the Clone Wars 5th Birthday Party. It was quite a success!

Party Planning is in the Works!

Party Planning is in the Works!

Posting may be light this week because I’m getting things ready for The Boy’s 5th birthday party this weekend–but I’ll be sharing a bunch of the stuff we do for it here, so stay tuned!  As mentioned before, it’s a Phineas and Ferb meet Clone Wars party (Invitation here!).

So what’s in the works?  Cake wise we’ll be having a Perry cake, and also clone trooper cupcakes (assuming they work out like I plan!).  It’s at brunch time (to try to beat out some of the heat of early june) so I’m planning on brunch food & drinks–… Read on…

Phineas & Ferb meet the Clone Wars

(Edit: The Party has come and gone… see the Perry Cake, the Clone Wars Cupcakes, and everything else: Phineas & Ferb Meet the Clone Wars Party!)

The Boy has a birthday coming up, and I figured I’d better be early (ok, I’m reaching for an IF theme! edit: Another IF for Early is HERE!) drawing an illustration for his birthday party invite. (Previous year’s party invitations: Dragon and Robots.) His pick for a party theme this year? Phineas & Ferb AND Star Wars – The Clone Wars. So what was I… Read on…
